FOSS - Solar Energy
Sketch / technical diagram of a solar energy box student that the student is considering building. Students had built prototypes of solar houses, in which different materials were tested (by sharing this knowledge they had some background in what materials might act as absorbers or insulators). This sketch was in a reflective journal that usually was instructed with an open prompt: ?Think about what you learned today and how you might use that knowledge to design your own solar oven.? In this example, the student used this opportunity to draw out their idea, and give details in their labels to show and think through their plan. What is interesting about this example is the way the student explains each part ? showing details of why they chose different materials and designs, and what purposes they will serve. Also note dated page.
